Valerie Suderman
Valerie was born and raised on a small farm in a rural community in south-central Manitoba. Growing up in a rural setting fostered her creativity, resourcefulness, and strong work ethic. Throughout her school years, she was actively involved in a wide variety of academic, cultural, and community activities, including music, drama, youth volunteering, and travel. These experiences helped shape the diverse skill set and adaptability that continue to serve her well today.
From an early age, Valerie gained valuable customer service and business experience through a variety of roles, including positions at a local Ford dealership, grocery store, and neighbourhood restaurants. Her adventurous spirit also led her to work in the tourism industry and travel extensively throughout Western Europe. As a young adult, Valerie spent a year living in France, where she worked, studied, and traveled while further developing her French language proficiency. Upon returning to Manitoba, she enrolled at Collège universitaire de Saint-Boniface (now Université de Saint-Boniface), the French-language institution affiliated with the University of Manitoba. In 2002, she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a specialization in French-English Translation from the University of Manitoba. Valerie's fluency in both French and English has opened many professional opportunities throughout her career. Following graduation, she worked in the bilingual banking sector in several French-speaking communities across Manitoba. This experience ultimately led her to pursue a career in law.
Valerie began her legal career as a bilingual legal assistant, working closely with French-speaking lawyers in the areas of corporate, commercial, and tax law, as well as estate planning. After several years in this role, she attended Robson Hall, the Faculty of Law at the University of Manitoba. Upon graduating, she completed her articles with a bilingual law firm, where she refined her French legal terminology while gaining practical experience in wills and estates, estate planning, and real estate law. Over the course of her legal career, Valerie has continued to broaden her knowledge and expertise. She advises clients in residential and commercial real estate transactions, corporate and commercial matters, estate planning, and estate administration. Her experience serving clients in both rural and urban communities allows her to understand and respond effectively to a wide range of personal and business needs.
Having grown up in a farming community and maintaining close ties to agriculture, Valerie possesses a strong understanding of farming operations, business management, and entrepreneurship. This practical insight enables her to provide clients with advice that is both knowledgeable and grounded in real-world experience. Outside of her legal practice, Valerie enjoys spending time with her husband and four children on their rural property. She is passionate about the outdoors and can often be found biking, hiking, fishing, dirt biking, or camping. When not enjoying family activities, she may be helping her husband on the farm, reading a good book, spending time with friends, or enjoying a great cup of coffee.
